Week 7 Forum: Faux Pas

Post an image to the forum that you think is an example of a good use of a photographic faux pas or ‘mistake’. That is; despite (or perhaps in spite) of its apparent failure, you think it is actually creative or interesting. This could be your own image, or anyone else’s. Write a sentence or two explaining how it breaks rules in photography, and why you think it’s an effective image as a result.

This image is not a technical faux par but rather one of chance where the makeup artist decided to ‘rescue my cat from lockup’, dress him & let him walk onto the set as we were about to start shooting. These are straight from camera unedited captures, the flash wasn’t set & the foot placement is wrong. While the rest of us held our breath that the designer didn’t panic what resulted were 2 images where the cat & the model mirrored each other unguided.
The rules that were broken were ignoring the safety of the animal as a trip hazard on set & ignoring the designer (clients) fear of cats.
